CURRENT SHOW
God Loves a Changeling : Rachel Blodgett
August 5 - September 30, 2023
As I create, I get to know and experience Life and God in sensory forms.
Creating, for me, is a method of living, and is a meeting place between my every self and God.
Acts of creation are a sensory language, where everything is inquiry. Every time I think I know
something, experience shows me more. In times where memory has not been reliable, Art has
been both evidence of past selves, and an everlasting question. When I come back to the
questions, I meet myself in complication and complexity.
As someone who has held many conceptions of what Life is, and therefore what and who I am,
the character of Changeling, a fairy being left in place of a human, feels so familiar to me. As if
through the touch of a fairy, I have met a new form of self many times. Sometimes a new way of
being me, has unfurled like a gift, given. Though sometimes the acts of change have taken
work. I don’t want to give the impression that it’s always been easy to keep hanging on ;)
Change has kept me living.
People have taught me different things about who God is, what ‘he’ thinks of me, and also how
to Live in the ‘right’ way. As I keep living, these teachings fall away as I remember over and over
that I know God. I already know God, and God has always known me, no matter my form.
Art is what I trust. The process of creating is holy. Creation is a process of developing trust in life
and in God.
These artworks are a reflection of devotion to Change itself. I dedicate this space to the
holy changelings: the ones who transform, fairy-like, having many lives and faces, and
no final form. May we love and cherish our every selves; I see no reason for shame in the
process of meeting God.
With deep gratitude to

All that you touch, you change
All that you change changes you
The only lasting truth is change
